I recently reviewed Antioch's policing levels and crime rate as of September 25, 2023. These are the shocking results I found. Based on statistics, there was a 31.09 percent increase in crime—including a 33.3% increase in homicides, a 47.2% increase in robbery, a 62.5% increase in burglary, a 19.4% increase in theft, and an 85.7% increase in auto theft. In regards to the Antioch Police Department's staffing levels, there are 115 authorized positions for Antioch P.D. This is how A.P.D. looked as of September 25th:
- 95 of those positions are filled
- 44 of those 95 positions are in service
- 31 officers are assigned to patrol
- Averaging over 100 calls a shift
- Modified work schedule
- 7 officers are assigned to investigations
- Those 7 averaged a caseload of just over 300 cases
- 7 detectives are doing all filing and follow-up
With its low police staffing levels and high rate of crime, my question is, do you feel safe in Antioch? The purpose of this post is not to make you afraid but rather to make you aware.
